All great cultural centers have learning at their heart. In bringing its new Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program to Museum Plaza, the University of Louisville reinforces this tradition, helping to integrate education, culture, and commerce.

The MFA program takes an “intermedia” approach to art that addresses all forms of artistic expression: painting, sculpture, video, and digital communication. Students will make art within the context of the larger community at Museum Plaza. At the same time, residents, business people, and visitors can observe creative processes, gaining a deeper understanding of and appreciation for art. This interaction promises to enhance the educational opportunities for student artists and give their work even greater relevancy, while making contemporary art more available and more engaging to a broad spectrum of viewers.
